With all the grandstanding over the recent bridge collapse there has been a strong push in the media to raise gas taxes. Today there's further evidence no such tax hike is required!

AP just reports Federal Deficit Sharply Lower - "The federal deficit so far this budget year is running sharply lower, driven by record revenues pouring into government coffers."

RECORD TAX REVENUES received by US Government: $2.12 TRILLION
RECORD HIGHER SPENDING with the "new" congress: $2.27 TRILLION

But they need more money. and more money. Their solution?

Change the composition of pennies and nickles = suggested savings of an additonal $100 million dollars.

Sounds like there's enough money floating around, maybe we could get a 5 cent gas tax cut instead of another hike - that would lead to even further tax revenue increases and help all those suffering under high gasoline tax prices.
