In an election day story worthy of telling by Paul Harvey, nine term Maryland Republican Congressman Wayne Gilchrest has been defeated.

He was not very popular and faced a significant challenge; the question was whether a mixed vote against him would dilute its effectiveness.

In the end, however, the move for change was just too much for the congressman to overcome.

You see, one year ago, Rep. Gilchrest was one of only two Republicans to take the white flag from the Democrats and vote for a timetable to surrender.

And now, he'd say, you know the rest of the story ;)
