New York Times reporting on New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.
Apparently Spitzer's ethics are a relevant thing and, being a Democrat, there's no potential charge of hypocrisy, thus it's not a problem. nothing here. moveon.org.
NYT: Spitzer Is Linked to Prostitution Ring - Mr. Spitzer, a first term Democrat who pledged to bring ethics reform an end the often seamy ways of Albany, is married with three children. Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved. ... But a person with knowledge of the governor’s role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers.
UPDATE: Spitzer has now confessed to his aides that he's the john in question!
DC MADAM: Remember all the media glee over the revelations from the so-called "D.C. Madam"? In that case Democrats were disregarded and Republican heads were called for. Here? TBD ...
RUSH: "It's not like he was tapping his toe in a men's room or anything" ROFLMAO
CLIENT 9: Is how the Governor is apparently being referred to in court documents.
MORE: From the NYT - The governor’s travel records show that he was in Washington in mid-February. One of the clients described in court papers arranged to meet with a prostitute who was part of the ring, the Emperors Club VIP on the night of Feb. 13. Mr. Spitzer appeared on a CNBC television show at 7 a.m. the next morning. Later in the morning, he testified before a Congressional committee. ... An affidavit filed in federal court in Manhattan in connection with that case lists six conversations between the man, identified as Client 9, and a booking agent for the Emperors Club.
FNC:
WALL ST.: Everybody - other than Jim Cramer - who is an investor should cheer, cheer, cheer!
MORE: AP - The most highly ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour
INDICTED: Spitzer has been indicted by a New York criminal court - according to FNC this is the reason for his expected resignation.
SPEAKS: Spitzer speaks; takes page from Clinton playbook & will not resign (it's a private matter and he's a progressive Democrat!) - the statement was so quick that FNC totally blew it, Sheppard Smith & the Judge speaking over the short "press conference" and before they knew it ... it was over and they began contemplating who the new governor would be, not realizing Spitzer is playing Democrat and will not - as of yet - resign.
GRETA: Spitzer fan with indictment in hand notes he was not a fan on Wall St. because he tried to clean it up - that is one perspective ... another is that many perceived Spitzer as a corrupt, power hungry politician who bullied his way to the top by reaping huge fines and backroom deals to boost his political warchest on the way to obtaining the New York Governor's ofice, a perspective that seems to be justified by this day's developments.
SPIKE: Why did the NYT wait until the Spitzer indictment was unsealed today before publishing this information? According to Roger Stone, former NY GOP consultant, this info was out there for over a week. Apparently, when it comes to John McCain, there were different standards employed ...

COMPLAINT: Apparently an official "indictment" is still pending and Spitzer's failure to resign may be a strategic ploy to defer prosecution, following today's criminal complaint in which he was identified, by later resigning in exchange for leniency from the Feds.
GASPARINO: Charlie notes that New York press fell down on the job by falling down for Spitzer - they never did their job, even when it was clear corruption was abounding, they would never report any of these known things about him. Republicans (or Hillary!) would be wise to note a similar predicament is now at bay in the media's fainted fawning over Barack Obama ...
TUCKER: "This is like getting Al Capone for tax evasion"
JPOD: On Spitzer being a superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention, it's only appropriate "he cast the final deciding vote in August"
