MIAMI -- He never knew his famous grandfather who died 11 years before he was born. The legacy, though, lives on, and last night Joe Lombardi earned a piece of the trophy that is awarded each year to the winner of the Super Bowl. That coveted piece of hardware is... |
The Super Bowl champion Saints have 29 free agents — 11 of them unrestricted — heading into next season. |
This year's Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million viewers -- surpassing the 1983 finale of 'M-A-S-H' to become the most-watched TV program in American history. The Nielsen Company estimated that 106.5 million people watched the New Orleans Saints defeat the Indianapolis Colts. That figure smashed... |
While many will point to the back breaking pick of Tracy Porter as the play that cost the Indy Colts their second chance at a title in four seasons, the Colts offense, one that played so well in playoff wins over the Ravens and Jets, never seemed to get into a flow in Super Bowl [...] |

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Drew Brees turned to his wife when he woke up and asked: “Did yesterday really happen?” The Saints and their fans awoke Monday to the realization that the once lovable losers from New Orleans were Super Bowl champions for the first time in the club’s... |
KEY MOMENT Trailing 24-17, Peyton Manning was on the march again, looking for the tying touchdown. What he got instead was a crushing interception that sunk his Colts. On third-and-5 from the New Orleans 36-yard line, the Saints came on a blitz and Manning fired to Reggie Wayne. The pass... |
The Saints and their fans awoke Monday to the realization that the once lovable losers from New Orleans were Super Bowl champions for the first time in the club's 43-year history after Sunday's 31-17 triumph over the Indianapolis Colts. |
Hoarse, hungover and happy, New Orleans woke up Monday wondering if that Super Bowl thing really happened. |
It was the signature play of Super Bowl XLIV, as Louisiana native clinched the New Orleans Saints first ever Super Bowl title with a 74-yard pick pocket of Peyton Manning that went the distance to give New Orleans a 31-17 lead in the fourth quarter. It was a lead that would stand out, and [...] |
MIAMI -- Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney had his Willis Reed moment, at least. That may be small consolation given the fact his team blew a 10-0 lead last night and watched the Saints speed to a 31-17 upset in Super Bowl XLIV, but it was something. And it is... |
NEW YORK (AP) -- The Nielsen Co. says the Super Bowl got its highest overnight ratings in 23 years. |
Former Colts coach Tony Dungy said last week that he would be shocked if Indianapolis lost Super Bowl XLIV. He sure sounded shocked Monday. |
Thanks to TiVo , we have a pretty good idea of what the most popular commercials from last night's Super Bow. Survey says: that Doritos commercial with the little kid telling his mom's date to keep his hands off his mother (fat chance!) and off his Doritos. America is a peculiar little country, isn't it, cheese-flavored chips and light beer as far as the eye can see. |
To hell with pants, and the pantsy regimes supported by ads like this one. At first, I loved this commercial. It struck my soul as a deep and loving ode to the joy that all men feel when unconfined from the tyranny of pants. Then Dockers had to screw it al... |
I would totally work in that office. That's all I have to say. ... |
Every Super Bowl, Budweiser spends enough money making and airing ads to fund several third world insurrections. The Budweiser 'Bridge' ad was one of their better achievements this year. It featured an entire town of alcoholics working together to create ... |
CBS Corp. said 46 percent of U.S. homes watched the New Orleans Saints defeat the Indianapolis Colts in yesterday’s Super Bowl, a 10 percent increase from last year and the highest in 23 years. |
Worst Super Bowl ad? I nominate the one sponsored by kgb.com , the company that answers questions by text message (which I hadn't heard about previously). In truth, the ad was so-so--no better or worse than most of the others. What I don't like is the company name. It supposedly stands for 'Knowledge Generation Bureau,' but of course its acronym is memorable because it appropriates the name of the KGB, i.e., the Soviet Union's national security bureau. For some folks, the Cold War may be way back in history times. You will know them by their Che t-shirts. By my lights, it seems a little premature to forget that the henchmen of Communism were a force for evil in the modern world. Here are a couple of questions you can text to kgb.com: How many people did the real KGB murder? And what would they think of... |
There is no Pro Bowl next week. They played it last week. Super Bowl XLIV (44) was the only thing separating leatherheads from a 7 month (213 day) offseason. There is no time for sobbing. The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints played for the right to be the 2009-210 National Football League Champions. http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/44 For those [...] |
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A surprise Super Bowl ad featuring U.S. celebrities David Letterman, Oprah Winfrey and Jay Leno was planned and filmed in strict secrecy, a CBS executive said. |
The Super Bowl was a great game from start to finish. Sean Payton's decision to go for an onside kick to start the second half makes you wonder why more coaches don't make that gamble. The Colts offense is hard... |
The Green Police: Tim Tebow + Mom: |
Many of you were on hand this last evening to witness the destruction of the Indianapolis Colts this evening to the Nawlins Saints. (Side note to Indy fans-haha) However, what most people at RedState and around the political blogosphere have heard the most about was Tim Tebow's mothers ad, about her decision to keep her baby, who would grow up to be the best QB outside of Austin, Texas :-). The Left, as usual went into a shrieking fit that Focus on the Family would be able to air their offensive ad for celebrating life when ordinary Americans wanted to watch ads for beer and bikini clad women on GoDaddy.com-this was no place for Focus on the Family. These people should be banned for even daring to think that the Super Bowl with its enormous viewership would be the place for Christians to spread our message.... |
We really did not have a team in the Super Bowl tonight, except we were rooting for the Cinderella Saints. We were not disappointed. Great game, going down to the 4th. Both teams fought hard and it came down to who made the last mistake (Colts of course). On the commercial side, we hope to have [...] |
One of the reasons many people watch the Super Bowl is for the ads, and one that surely will be talked about at watercoolers Monday is Audi's Green Police commercial. In it, ordinary citizens are arrested for using plastic instead of paper, throwing away batteries, not recycling orange rinds, possessing incandescent light bulbs, and setting their hot tub thermostats too high all while Robin Zander sings refashioned lyrics to Cheap Trick's '70s classic 'The Dream Police.' To give you an idea just how scary this futurist vision of environmentalism running amok was, even the New York Times found it 'misguided' (video embedded below the fold, h/t Seton Motley): AUDI Officious 'green police' punish citizens who are not sufficiently eco-conscious, but an owner of an Audi A3 TDI with clean-diesel... |
Doesn't want to jeopardize (however that's spelled) the Dem ticket. Announcing his decision at a Chicago bar packed with patrons watching the Super Bowl, a tearful Scott Lee Cohen said the Democrats were not certain they could win with him... |
Who Dat won the Super Bowl? The New Orleans Saints, that's who. Ain't kidding. Put away those paper bags forever. Drew Brees and the Saints are NFL champions, rallying to upset Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 Sunday night in one of pro football's most thrilling title games. |
